Around The Garden World - Day 54 (Montmorency Falls, Quebec City)

 Time for Fall!

How about Montmorency Falls in Quebec City? This 275 foot waterfall is taller than Niagra Falls. The falls are at the mouth of the Montmorency River where it drops over the cliff shore into the Saint Lawrence River, opposite the western end of the Île d'Orleans. The falls were given this name in 1613 by Samuel de Champlain. He named them in honour of Henri II, duc de Montmorency, who served as viceroy of New France from 1620 until 1625.

Around The Garden World - Day 54

One of the goals of this blog is to instill a joy of gardening in the next generation. It made my heart glad this morning when I saw this little girl exploring the seeds on the liriope. She was in her best Sunday clothes yet her parents were allowing her to get up close and dirty in the garden outside our church.

I wasn't going to break the news to her that she didn't really need all those seeds to get the lirope to spread - it will do that quite easily on its own.
She was just so adorable I HAD to take her picture!

This summer, my little Aiden was thrilled to help me unload some plant samples from Proven Winners plants

Hoping to see the evolution of a budding plant nerd!

Around The Garden World - Day 53 (Do you have Pumpkinfest in your area?)

A scarecrow/pumpkin decorating competition, great food, interesting arts, and jammin' music - all part of Franklin, TN's  Pumpkinfest!

This vendor's scarecrow might have been a self-portrait...

My friend Trisha Shirey chatting up one of the scarecrows.
